ALEXANDER LAUFER joined the firm in 1994. His practice is concentrated in civil litigation and real estate transactions, providing services in the areas of personal injury law, medical malpractice, construction law and employment law. Alexander "Alex" grew up in Montreal, Canada but also lived and attended school in Jerusalem and Johannesburg, South Africa. He speaks four languages, English, French, Hungarian and Hebrew. Alex graduated (cum laude) in 1972 from Loyola College and with High Honors from the University of Florida School of Law in 1976. He has been an adjunct professor at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, Florida and more recently at the Marymount University School of Business. He is a member of both the Virginia and Florida bars and is a Commissioner in Chancery in Fairfax County. Alex has over 35 years of experience in complex litigation in both state and federal courts, including bankruptcy court and has handled thousands of residential and commercial real estate transactions. In recent years Alex has litigated numerous cases involving noncompliance by residential builders with the federal Interstate Land Sales Full Disclosure Act. In addition, Alex has become a member of the Vaccine Injury Program Bar and the Federal Court of Claims Bar Association and is assisting families with members injured by vaccines, in obtaining compensation pursuant to the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program, a federal program which provides recourse for those suffering injury from certain vaccines.
STEPHANIE DURAN joined the firm as a partner in 2021, after practicing in the Northern Virginia area for the past nine years. Stephanie attended law school in both the United States and Canada, concurrently earning juris doctorates in both counties as part of a select program between the University of Windsor and University of Detroit-Mercy. Prior to law school, Stephanie obtained a Honors Bachelor of Arts at the University of Toronto, with a double major in Political Science and Environmental Policy.Stephanie, a native of Northern Virginia, returned to the area following law school and began her legal career as a civil litigator. She has a broad range of experience, including domestic relations, real estate law, business law, personal injury law, estate planning, and criminal defense, however, the majority of Stephanie's practice has been dedicated to family law. She proudly represents individuals in complex divorce matters, uncontested divorces, property division, custody, support, and protective orders. Stephanie strives to achieve the best possible outcome for her clients, whether through litigation, mediation or settlement, and prides herself on finding innovative solutions tailored to each client's individual needs.
JAMES S.D. EISENHOWER, III co-founded the firm in 1985. After graduation from Franklin College, Franklin, Indiana in 1969, he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps, earned his Naval Aviator Wings, and served until 1973 with the rank of Captain. In 1977, James "Jim" graduated with honors from George Mason University Law School. Jim practiced law with the firm, with a specialization in estate, tax and commercial law, until his retirement in 2021. Jim also served for many years as an adjunct professor at Marymount University School of Business.
